The teacher education programme leading to Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) aims at preparing teachers for the elementary stage of education, that is, classes I-VIII. The programme is known by different names such as BTC, JBT, D.Ed, etc.

The purpose of both the courses is to equip the student-teachers with thorough understanding of the child and his process of learning and development, whilst keeping in mind their problems and social obstacles.

Candidates aspiring to be a primary teacher in the schools of Uttar Pradesh can opt for the UP-BTC 2024 program. Official name of UP-BTC is Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). The candidates are selected on the basis of open merit. Application form will be available in the month of May 2024 tentatively.

Duration of D.El.Ed course: 2 years

Fee for UP D.El.Ed: Rs 41,000/- per year

Seats available: 50 (first come first serve basis)

Eligibility Criteria (UP D.El.Ed 2024 / UP BTC 2024)

Age Limit:

The age of both male and female candidates should be between 18 to 35 years as on 1st July 2024.
Candidates from SC, ST and OBC categories will get a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
Physically handicapped candidates will get a relaxation of 15 years in the upper age.

Educational Criteria:

Educational qualification: A graduate degree with 50% marks* from any recognized university.
* 5% relaxtion for PH / OBC / SC / ST candidates.

Admission Process in D.El.Ed 2024 (earlier known as BTC):

There is no entrance examination for taking admission in UP BTC 2024. A student has to apply online on the official website of the D.El.Ed 2024 (Uttar Pradesh). A merit list is then prepared by the governing authority on the basis of marks obtained in std.10th, 12th and graduation by the candidate. Based on the merit list, the candidate then opts for the college in which he seeks admission. After locking the college, the student has to deposit the fee in the college by way of demand drafts.
